I respect the diversity of family structures in our society. I am happy to have been invited to share the journey of pregnancy, birth and early family life with a very diverse range of clients.
- I have worked with those who have chosen to parent alone;
- those who have used donors: surrogates and IPs;
- many same sex couples and some from the wider LGBT community.
I identify as a woman and choose to use female pronouns for myself.
Having been brought up in a heteronormative part of society and working in a profession which uses the language of “women and mothers” often without actively considering the impact of those words, I am aware that I am likely to be unaware of some of my assumptions and bias.
I am open to new learning and embrace respectful challenge of my assumptions and linguistics.
